Great Death. That's what Daishi means in Japanese, a name given to it by the House
Kurita MechWarriors being stomped regularly by Daishis and other Clan mechs at the
beginning of the Clan invasion. No other mech has the sheer resources to dump into
firepower like the Daishi does. This mech lands first place in several other categories as
well, including most omni weapons slots (eight) and the ability to mount the most LBX-20
ACs or Gauss Rifles (three). The most lethal
configurations for the Daishi are three LBX-AC 20s or six ER Large Lasers. It can mount
any weapon in the game, but only one copy of most of the big ones (MRM40s, Thunderbolts,
ERPPCs) by virtue of its dual groups of three ballistic slots and single group of four
omnis. The rest of the mech's slots are broken into groups of two each; fortunately,
no slots are left stand-alone. So while there's a bias towards the big ballistic weapons,
the mech is really one of the most versatile in the game, being able to mount a
devastating attack while focusing on any of the three weapon types.
One of the downsides of a Daishi is it presents something
of a target. The mech is very slow and its stocky profile is not hard to hit. It can mount
a devastating arsenal, but also tends to draw a lot of fire.
