The Argus is not an exceptionally versatile design. The lightest of the heavy mechs, it
also has the fewest weapons slots, although its ratio of available tons to mech weight is
decent (eighth-best in the game). Ballistic weapons are this mech's strong point. The
single five-slot group in its right arm can hold an LBX-20 AC or Gauss Rifle along with an
LBX-10 or Light Gauss. Clicking on the
"Chassis" image below will reveal little about the mech that could be considered
exceptional. The Argus has a torso twist range of 120 degrees at 70 degrees/second.
The acceleration and deceleration rates are similarly bland. If anything is
exceptional here, it is the fact that only one component, Light Amplification, is
available for selection. Most mechs have three or four choices of components. Only
the Daishi and Mauler have two, and the Argus alone has only one choice.
Lasers make for good secondary weapons on an Argus. The
three-slot missile group on its left arm gives a non-ballistic option for a weapon with a
high damage value.
