The Hellspawn is sort of the Chimera's evil twin. Where the Chimera gives many an option for weapons configuration. the Hellspawn forces you down one of only a few paths. Its weapons slots total of fourteen is as good as or better than all but one mech under seventy tons, but all three beam and ballistic slots are standalone.  Thus, the only beam weapons available to the mech are medium and small lasers, while the only ballistic weapons available are machine gun arrays and AC5s.

The Hellspawn's five missile slots are grouped much more favorably; one group of three, another group of two.  Carrying a high-damage thunderbolt or MRM40 and surrounding it with a supporting cast is a good option for this mech. Its small profile and speed also make it a good candidate to be the designated Narcer, running in and dropping a Narc beacon on an opponent while the Hellspawn's allies stay back at a comfortable range and unleash salvos of LRMs.
