Light battlemechs aren't exactly known for their ability to stand and give-and-take in a
slugfest, and the Osiris is the lightest that MW4 has to offer. It is unable to match any
of the other mechs in the amount of weapons or armor that it can carry; at best, it
can carry 20.5 tons, over 4 tons less than the next closest competitor. What the Osiris does have going for it is speed. Its minimum
speed is much faster than that of any other mech; it's maximum is rivaled only by the
Cougar, which has to pay a heftier price to reach the 130KPH plateau (and carries a larger
profile than the Osiris). Likewise, the Raven is the only mech that comes close to the
Osiris in acceleration and deceleration. Speed can be fun if it's on your side; it
can be very frustrating for the big, slow bruiser mechs trying to chase you down and draw
a bead on your dancing form. It's also useful for reconnaissance, and chasing down flags
and beacons in multiplayer. It can be incredibly annoying taking a Daishi,
overflowing with weapons and nary a thought to speed, into a game of King of the Hill and
having a speed-maxed-out Osiris running around your knees gobbling up points. King of the
Hill, Steal the Beacon, and Capture the Flag games are where this mech is at its best.
Having to kill or damage other mechs to win gives the Osiris little chance of victory.
Five of the Osiris' eight weapons slots are for beam
weapons; two sets of two and a single slot. It also carries one set of two missile
slots, and a single ballistic slot. LRM racks and ER lasers are good choices to equip the
mech for distance combat; streak SRMs, medium and small lasers, and perhaps a machine gun
array are viable if you prefer to make close-in passes.
